As a designated Children's Centre we are able to offer you and your family additional services provided by other agencies.

The Children's Centre staff are working with and alongside these agencies to ensure better outcomes for your children as set out in the Government document "Every Child Matters".

Baby Clinic
Every Tuesday between 2 and 4 o'clock in the church building adjacent to the Children's centre.

Lewsey Children's Centre located in Luton

At the clinic you can have your baby/child weighed and discuss any problems with a Health visitor or Nursery Nurse.

Childminders Drop In
Held once or twice a month in the church. The centre works with the NCMA to provide any extra care required by parents e.g. before 8am or after 6pm - or any other time the centre may be closed.

The National Childminding Association (NCMA) provide training for childminders and often use the church facilities to do so. Children's centre staff may also attend these training sessions.

If you are interested in becoming a childminder please ask for more information.

If you are currently a registered childminder and wish to be added to our mailing list so we can update you on upcoming courses, events etc please email us at lewseychildren@tiscali.co.uk with all of your details including your ofsted number, addess, email address, telephone number etc.

First time Parents Group
This group is held on Friday mornings between 10am and 12pm.

The group is currently provided by our Family Worker Sally and a Health Visitor

It is aimed at parents with babies under one year old. Please email us at lewseychildren@tiscali.co.uk or telephone 01582 603785 to ask for further details.

Fun with Art
An art group held every Tuesday morning between 9.45-11.00am at St Hughs Church (Emerald Road) Lewsey Farm. A voluntary fee of £1 per child.

This group offers children the opportunity to play with a variety of different resources, from play dough, paint and sticking.

We have a story and some singing also towards the end of the session

There is a snack provided.

Job Centre Plus

jcp.gifA Job Centre Plus lone parent advisor (Karen Lister) is available one day a month in the office in the church.

You can make an appointment to see Karen and if she cannot help you she will signpost you to someone who can.

This is a valuable service being provided locally, and includes mandatory interviews. Please ask for more details or click here to go directly to the Job Centre Plus website

Lewsey Learning Centre
This centre is located next to the Children's centre and used to be part Lewsey_Learning_Centre.jpgof Chantry School.

The centre offers a variety of Adult Education courses from sewing to computing.

Your children may be cared for in the Children's centre for free whilst you access a course, or they may attend a crèche actually in the Learning centre.

Library Service
The library offers the children's centre a wide variety of books each term, as well as an extra 30 books for special projects.

We are able to make requests e.g. for large books, touchy feely books, story books. Librarians will, at our request, visit the Children's centre for story and rhyme sessions.

Parents and children are encouraged to join the library to improve literacy skills and foster a love of books and reading. The local library is just over the road, and offers story times and rhyme times for small children.

Parent and Toddler Group – Stay & Play
Our Stay & Play sessions are on Monday mornings (term time only) between 9.30 and 11 o'clock.

The cost is just £1.00 per family and includes refreshments.

Come along and socialise with other parents while your children play.

Our Family Worker is available to help you with any worries or problems.

Young Parents Group
Our Young Parents group meets on Wednesdays in the church between 12.00 and 3.00pm - term time only and is run by our Family Worker and the Family Worker from Pastures Way Nursery School.

This group is aimed at parents under the age of 22 years who are either pregnant or have children under 5 years old. Children and partners are also welcome.

Every week has a different activity, lunch is provided, and information is shared.

Please ask for more details.
